This lightweight supersport gets a whole new MotoGP-inspired look that makes it the most radical 300 on the street... or track. Its sleek new bodywork echoes Rossi’s race bike – and the aggressive new dual LED headlights underline its pure R-series DNA.
New high-specification 37mm inverted front forks offer enhanced suspension feel and feedback – while a lower fuel tank and revised handlebar position improve rider ergonomics to give you greater comfort and control.

Featuring the latest combustion technology together with lightweight forged aluminium pistons and all-aluminium DiASil cylinders with an offset design, the smooth-running and quick-revving YZF-R3 engine produces easy-to-manage power.
A lightweight high tensile steel tubular frame with a simple design incorporates the engine's crankcase as a stressed structural member of the chassis. The long asymmetrical swingarm design ensures the efficient transmission of engine power to the rear wheel and delivers excellent straight-line stability.
Featuring thin cast spokes that complement the light and sleek image, the 17-inch wheels are fitted with a 110/70-17 front tyre and a wide 140/70-17 rear tyre. For powerful and progressive braking performance the YZF-R3 benefits from a large diameter 298mm floating front disc and a 220mm rear disc. For added control, Anti-Lock Braking is fitted as standard equipment raising confidence levels even further.
A trick multi-function instrument panel includes an analogue tachometer and digital speedometer – and to underline its strong R-series heritage the R3’s instruments feature a shift timing indicator lamp similar to the design used on the YZF-R1. There’s also a gear position indicator, fuel gauge, water temperature gauge as well as fuel economy information, clock, trip-meters and more. All of course wrapped into an impressive liquid-crystal-type display.
Achieving the right balance of comfort and sport riding performance for both street and track, the new KYB 37mm inverted fork features a larger surface area between the outer and inner tubes than on conventional forks. The inverted design significantly improves fork-leg rigidity, giving a sporty front-end feel and precise levels of surface feedback - while maintaining high levels of riding comfort.
